Pre-treatment care
Preparing for injectable treatments, such as Botox or dermal fillers, involves several important steps to ensure a safe and effective procedure.
Consultation: Schedule a consultation with a qualified medical aesthetics provider. Discuss your goals, concerns, and medical history. Make sure the treatment is suitable for you.
Choose a Qualified Provider: Ensure you’re treated by a licensed, experienced, and reputable medical professional. Research their credentials and read reviews if available.
Medical History: Provide your complete medical history, including any allergies, medications, or previous treatments. Some conditions or medications may affect your eligibility for certain injectables.
Avoid Alcohol: Limit or avoid alcohol consumption for a few days before the treatment. Alcohol can increase the risk of bruising.
Plan Downtime: Some injectables may cause temporary swelling, redness, or bruising. Plan your treatment at a time when you can take a break from work or social events if necessary.
Skincare: Follow any specific skincare instructions provided by your provider. This may include cleansing your face thoroughly on the day of treatment and avoiding makeup or skincare products.
Arrive Clean: Arrive at your appointment with a clean face, free of makeup or skincare products. Your injector may need to cleanse your skin before treatment.
Discuss Pain Management: If you’re concerned about pain or discomfort during the procedure, discuss pain management options with your injector. Some injectables contain local anaesthetics, and topical numbing creams can be applied.
Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask any last-minute questions or express any concerns before the treatment begins.
Follow Aftercare Instructions: Your injector will give you post-treatment instructions. Follow these carefully to ensure optimal results and minimize complications.
Remember that individual preparations can vary depending on the specific injectable treatment you’re receiving and your unique circumstances. Always consult with your medical aesthetics provider for personalized guidance on pre-treatment care and any specific instructions for your procedure.

Botox Post treatment care
Avoid Touching or Rubbing: For the first 6 hours after treatment, avoid touching or rubbing the treated areas. This helps prevent infection and ensures that the filler settles correctly.
Avoid Makeup Use: It’s best to avoid using makeup for the first 6 hours after treatment to prevent infection.
Stay Upright: For the first 1-2 hours after treatment, try to remain upright. Avoid lying down or bending over, as this can prevent the Botox from settling correctly.
Skip Strenuous Exercise: Avoid vigorous physical activity and strenuous exercise for the rest of the day after treatment. This can help prevent the Botox from moving to unintended areas and prevent swelling of the treated areas.
No Saunas or Hot Baths: Steer clear of saunas, hot tubs, and hot baths for 24 hours post-treatment. Excessive heat can increase the risk of swelling and bruising.
Avoid Alcohol: Limit or avoid alcohol consumption for 24 hours after treatment, as alcohol can increase the risk of bruising.
Use Sun Protection: Protect your skin from direct sunlight and UV exposure. Apply sunscreen and wear a hat or sunglasses if necessary.
Be Gentle with Skincare: If you have a skincare routine, be gentle when applying products to your face. Avoid aggressive exfoliation or harsh treatments for a few days.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Proper hydration can support the healing process.
Follow Up: Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your provider to assess the results and make any necessary adjustments.
Expectation Management: Understand that the full effects of Botox may take up to two weeks to develop. Be patient and avoid making any judgments about the results immediately after treatment.
Report Any Concerns: If you experience unusual or severe side effects, such as significant swelling, pain, or an allergic reaction, contact your injector immediately.
Remember that individual responses to Botox can vary, and the duration of results can differ from person to person. It’s essential to follow your provider’s specific post-treatment instructions for the best outcome. If you have any questions or concerns about your Botox treatment or aftercare, don’t hesitate to reach out to your provider for guidance.

Avoid Makeup Use: It’s best to avoid using makeup for the first 6 hours after treatment to prevent infection.
Skip Strenuous Exercise: Avoid vigorous physical activity and strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after treatment. Exercise can increase blood flow and potentially dislodge the filler or worsen swelling.

Pain Relief: Over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen (Tylenol) can be used for any discomfort. Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen, as they can increase the risk of bruising.
Avoid Alcohol: Limit or avoid alcohol consumption for at least 24 hours post-treatment, as alcohol can increase the risk of bruising and swelling.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Proper hydration can support the healing process.
Sun Protection: Protect your skin from direct sunlight and UV exposure. Apply sunscreen and wear a hat or sunglasses if necessary.
Be Gentle with Skincare: If you have a skincare routine, be gentle when applying products to your face. Avoid aggressive exfoliation or harsh treatments for a few days.
Follow Up: Attend any scheduled follow-up appointments with your provider to assess the results and make any necessary adjustments.
Expectation Management: Understand that the full effects of dermal fillers may take a few days to settle. Be patient and avoid making any judgments about the results immediately after treatment.
Report Any Concerns: If you develop increasing pain near or around the site of injection which if getting worse over time, especially if associated with a pale area of skin indicating a lack of blood flow, you contact your clinician immediately.
In rare cases, an urgent reversal of other medical interventions may be required immediately to prevent scarring caused by vascular occlusion.
Individual responses to dermal fillers can vary, and the duration of results can differ from person to person. It’s essential to follow your provider’s specific post-treatment instructions for the best outcome. If you have any questions or concerns about your dermal filler treatment or aftercare, don’t hesitate to reach out to your provider for guidance.

Cosmetic mole removal post treatment care
What to expect:
- After the treatment, you may experience some soreness and pain over the treated areas. If your mole was removed using hyfrecator, you will notice a small burn mark to the treated area.
- Mild swelling, redness and bleeding can occasionally occur and may be noticeable for a few days.
- Anticipate a 10-14 day for the skin to fully recover. During this time, the wound may appear red, which can persist for 2-3 weeks before gradually subsiding over the next few months.
Aftercare instructions:
- Immediately after the procedure your doctor will apply a topical antibiotics ointment and adhesive dressing. Keep wound covered with adhesive dressings for 2-4 days as advised by your doctor.
- Over the counter analgesics medication can be taken in case of discomfort.
- Keep the area clean and dry for the first 48 hours.
- Once the dressing is removed, Vaseline can be applied to keep the wound moist for 1-2 weeks until healed.
- If you need to wash, do it gently, without rubbing or massaging the area for 2 weeks.
- If you are concerned about scarring, you can consider applying a scar cream such as Dermatix (available on Amazon). It is advisable to begin using a scar cream only after the wound has fully healed, indicated by the absence of open areas, scabs, or signs of infection.
- Dermatix is usually applied twice daily for a minimum of 2 months.
