Meet Dr. Koh
Hi, I’m Chia! It’s a pleasure to meet you. Allow me to introduce myself further and share a bit more about my journey in the fascinating world of medical aesthetics.
I graduated from the University of Liverpool (UK) with my medical degree in 2010 and earned full qualification as a General Practitioner in 2015. Combining my creative flair with a keen eye for aesthetics, I developed a passion for harmonizing healthcare with aesthetics.
For four years, I enjoyed running my own medical aesthetic clinic in the Northwest of England while still practising as a GP. I also gained valuable experience during a brief tenure with one of Europe’s leading aesthetic practices.
In 2022, I embarked on a new chapter by relocating to BC, Canada. I now proudly serve the Sidney B.C. and Greater Victoria communities at the Ocean Pier Medical Centre.
My Philosophy: ‘Less is More’
At the core of my practice is a ‘less is more’ philosophy, which focuses on achieving natural-looking results through subtle enhancements. I believe that aesthetic treatments aren’t just about eliminating wrinkles or chasing a youthful appearance. In fact, they go much deeper than that.
They can correct the subtle changes aging brings-like unintentional facial expressions of anger, sadness, or fatigue – and contribute to your overall sense of well-being. Far from being merely cosmetic, these interventions can significantly boost your confidence, empower you to engage more meaningfully in social settings, and improve your psychological well-being. I’ve personally witnessed the transformative power of aesthetic treatments, not only on my appearance but also on the lives of my patients.
This has propelled me to advocate for a broader, more nuanced understanding of aesthetic medicine. I’ve realized that this field can sometimes be shrouded in jargon and medical terminology that can be overwhelming for the average person. This realization inspired me to create this website, where I aim to break down complex concepts into simple, accessible information.
My goal is to empower the general public and my patients with knowledge, so they can make informed decisions about their skincare and aesthetic treatments while feeling confident and comfortable in their understanding of these topics.
Beyond the medical office
My journey here is deeply intertwined with my personal interests and values. Outside of work, I’ve always been drawn to creative art and visual expression, and this fascination found a perfect match in the intricacies of human anatomy during my medical school days. You might be intrigued to know that I’ve even crafted my own portfolio of anatomical sketches and line art. In my leisure time, you’ll also find me exploring restaurants and new culinary experiences and enjoying some quality time with my beloved furry friend, Poppy.
Honesty and advocating for others are principles close to my heart. I believe in setting things straight and ensuring that nobody is misled, especially when it comes to making choices about their own bodies. This drive to demystify and share knowledge is what motivated me to create this website.
I thrive on fostering meaningful connections and I deeply value my one-on-one interactions with patients, providing each individual with personalized care and attention. While I wholeheartedly believe in the power of personal connections, there are moments when my office undergoes a magical transformation into my ‘creative cocoon’. It’s where I immerse myself in content creation, letting my creativity take flight, all while enjoying the solitude like an introverted artist in a serene studio.
And in the dance between doctor and artist, I’ve discovered that life is like a canvas with some unexpected brushstrokes – sometimes colourful, sometimes a little abstract, but always an adventure worth savouring!
